Potato processing is nearing records

Although the mood in the potato market is fueled by a lower yield and it sometimes seems that processing is getting almost no raw material, potatoes are processed every day. Where do the processing figures for July come out?

The month of July is a good one (compared to 2017). processing month been. In recent decades, more potatoes have only been processed in July 2014, when 305.300 tons of potatoes were processed into an end product. Last July that number stood at 304.600 tons. On average, the processing figure in July (since harvest year 2001) is 237.981 tons.

Abundant supply and mediocre quality?
Some of it was processed in July, it seemed 2 months ago not to be processed. This is due to an abundant supply and mediocre quality. However, the warm and dry summer changed this, meaning that 'written off' product was still processed. The processing percentage was 52,9% in July, which is 1,5% higher than in June. A total of 135.600 tons of pre-fried product and 25.500 tons of other products were produced.

In the period from August 2017 to July 2018, 4.057.100 tons of potatoes were processed, compared to 4.027.100 tons in the same period 1 year earlier. More than 40% of the volume processed in July came from imports (124.300 tons). That was more than 1% one year earlier.Potato processing until July (over the years).
