The current situation in the physical market can certainly be described as unique. In 'normal' years, the market price quickly deflects during the off-country period. This is because the supply increases. However, in the current situation, growers give offers.
The market price (ranging from €24 to €28 per kilo, depending on the variety and size) is such that growers are considering making an offer for short-term delivery.
Storage
When it was decided to trade freely potatoes shed (which happens in most cases anyway), then the payment price (delivered from the shed) must quickly exceed the level of €30. This compares to what can be paid today. After all, the costs for storage and storage must be paid, otherwise it would be better to deliver from land.
The high commitment of buyers (in terms of purchasing price) is significant for how people estimate the market for the coming period (i.e. for the rest of the season). The strategy today seems to be to capture as much as possible for (as mentioned earlier) high prices. Ultimately, the vast majority of potatoes will be stored and then the 'game' (with regard to price formation) will be played again.
