Is there regrowth in potatoes and to what extent? The past few weeks have been fruitful, but the crops are already well advanced. The current trial harvesting figures show a small increase in yield.
De Numbers from Aviko Potato (week 35) show an increase of about 4 tons per hectare over the gross kilos. The graph now ends at approximately 49 tonnes gross, which is at least 5 tonnes below previous years. In those years the crops continued to grow for another 5 weeks, but it is unlikely that this will be repeated; certainly not for the earlier varieties.
Underwater weight is disappointing
The percentage of 50 millimeters upwards is now starting to level off and is around 75%. The underwater weight also decreased in week 35. The samples 40 millimeters upstream now have an average underwater weight of approximately 385 grams. That was still 31 grams in week 400.
Van der Linde trading house in Emmeloord heeft already published trial harvest figures for week 36. This makes it 1 week ahead of Aviko. The samples (5 plots with Innovator in the Noordoostpolder) amount to 55,38 tons per hectare, of which 86% is coarser than 50 millimeters upwards. The average underwater weight is over 400 grams. That has been stable for 3 weeks.
Plots killed
In the previous 3 years, Van der Linde harvested his last samples in week 37. The difference with the 2017 harvest is now 8,14 tons per hectare, which is 13% less. Compared to the 5-year average, the yield is 14% lower, but the underwater weight remains 10 points higher. 2 of the 5 plots have now been sprayed to death. The yield is 58,9 and 47,6 tons per hectare; 1 plot contains almost 60 tons.
