Avebe's board has decided that the advance payment for potatoes will be increased to €67 per tonne. In addition, the entire result of the cooperative will go to the members.
The above has now been discussed with the Members' Council. This is because the extreme drought and heat have had a major impact on members and the company. Avebe also speaks of a significantly lower yield.
Advance payment increased
The current advance payment will be increased with immediate effect to €67 per tonne (with 19% starch). The advance is therefore more than 17% higher than last year (an increase of €10 per tonne). This makes the advance the highest ever. The costs for loading and transport will remain at the expense of Avebe.
The organization will increase the starch and protein prices as much as possible. There has already been a start in July. The possibilities are there, because only a few contracts had been concluded with customers. The yields between the growers differ greatly.
Avebe wants to treat members equally. Therefore, it does not choose to shuffle money; from members with good returns to members with lesser returns.
Step-by-step increase in performance price
Chairman of the board Bert Jansen explains the choice: "We want to approach all our members equally, without making any claims on the future. We therefore opt for a thorough approach that does justice to this year's situation and is in line with the strategic course of Avebe. We are working on a step-by-step increase in the performance price."
