Aviko Potato's trial harvesting figures show that the growth of potato crops has leveled off last week. This picture is comparable to previous years. From week 37 onwards, the yield hardly increases.
De Numbers for week 38 amounts to 55 tons per hectare, which is slightly higher than in the previous week. If we look at the previous 5 years, we can see that this level is maintained until the end of the season. There are hardly any differences in yield.
Latest numbers?
In previous years, Aviko carried out the last test harvest in week 40, but due to the advance of the crops, this may be earlier this year. In any case, the graph confirms that the yield is very low. This concerns gross tonnes per hectare.
The percentage of 50 millimeters upwards has increased slightly. Almost 80% of the tubers fall into that size. That result is the same as 2013 and better than in 2016. The underwater weight in the size 40 millimeters upwards started historically high and then fell sharply. It is now around 385 grams. In the dry years (2013 and 2016) the underwater weight was extremely high: 400 grams or more.
