Potato processor Aviko Potato closes its Amberger factory in Oberdolling, Bavaria. The closure should be completed before the end of this year. That will be announced by parent company Royal Cosun on 6 November.
Aviko took a majority stake in the German potato factory Amberger in 2014. Various specialties are produced at this location, such as potato salad, dumplings and pre-cooked table potatoes. These products are sold exclusively in the Land of Bavaria.
No improvement
As a reason for the closure Cosun mentions the continuing loss the company made, despite continued investment in the factory. Aviko and Cosun see no room for improvement, so the plug is now being pulled.
The closure will affect 150 jobs, which will disappear. Some employees can work at Aviko's factory in Rain am Lech. Also in Bavaria. From 2017 Aviko took 100% importance factory and the name was changed to Feldmühle. As a result, the entire management was also taken into their own hands.
