In the 2017/2018 financial year, Avebe achieved a performance price that is again higher than in the previous financial year.
The cooperative result and potato money are combined in the performance price. The cooperative result in the 2017/2018 financial year amounts to approximately €7,8 million, which is approximately €1,5 million more than last year. At the December general membership meeting, the cooperative will propose to establish a back payment of almost €2,9 million. This brings the payout ratio to 98%.
"We are proud of the results we have been able to achieve. It shows the potential of Avebe see and what we can achieve together. This will be a spearhead, especially in the current financial year (which has just started), "said Bert Jansen, chairman of the board at Avebe.
Good developments
According to the potato cooperative, the positive result is mainly due to the good volumes, good production results and good developments in the market. For example, the production and sales of potato protein showed a positive trend.
Despite the good results, Avebe announced on Wednesday, November 21, that it will close 1 of its 2 starch factories at the beginning of December (instead of February). This is mainly due to this year's low potato yields.
Major investments
Last year, Avebe invested more than €55 million in further expansion of protein production capacity. Money was also made available for optimization and sustainability of existing facilities. "We can only be relevant to our members in the long term with good results. We will continue to work unabated this year to achieve our strategic objectives."
