Chip producer Croky recently announced that it will increase the prices for chips by 2019% from January 20. This is because of the high potato price.
"The available potatoes are expensive, forcing us to increase our prices by 20%," Tom Demeyer, marketing director at Croky, told De Standaard.
Consumer does not notice
However, this does not mean that the consumer will immediately have to pay 20% more for the chips. In addition, various Belgian supermarkets (such as Colruyt and Carrefour) that negotiations are still taking place with the suppliers and that the price increases have not yet been planned.
