Factories are still processing a lot

The Dutch potato processors once again went through quite a bit in February 2019. Remarkable, because there would still be a potato shortage. About the same amount was processed as in February last year.

318.500 tons of potatoes were processed in February, which is approximately the same as February 2018. In that month, 323.000 tons of potatoes were processed. Of all the potatoes processed in February, 147.200 were processed into pre-fried products and 27.300 tons into other products.

Less from imports
Only 30,7% of the potatoes came from imports, which is more than 5% less than last year. The percentage from imports appears to be decreasing for the 2018 harvest. However, potato processing will not exceed 2018 million tons of potatoes between March 2019 and February 4.
