The processing figure for July is very moderate. Last season the figure was 305.000 tons, although there was still an oversupply of raw material even at the end of the season.
Basically, the new season started last year with a large stock of fries. This season the starting position is of course very different, after a tight harvest in 2018. The processors currently have to scrape together the last potatoes in order to factories to keep it running.
Although the start of the new processing season is bad, the stock of end product will logically be limited. This should be good news for the physical market. After all, some catching up has to be done to get the stocks of end product back up to standard.
Record out of view
The total for the period August 2018 to July 2019 now amounts to 3,78 million tons. This means that the Dutch record (just over 4 million tons) is out of the picture for the time being. The processing figure will generally increase again in the coming period, which will also be necessary to process the expected 2019 potato harvest.
