PotatoNL will record on Monday

20 December 2019 - Anne Jan Doorn

PotatoNL will start recording on Mondays from January. In addition, Mark Brantjes has indicated that he will step down as chairman of PotatoNL. A replacement for him has not yet been found. PotatoNL will announce this on Friday 20 December.

About 2 years ago, ZLTO, NAO, VAVI and LNCN founded PotatoNL together. In June of this year it was decided to switch from recording twice a week to once a week. Initially, a quotation was made on Wednesday.

Insufficient support for Wednesday
In retrospect, this turned out not to be the right choice in terms of implementation and efficiency. It was not supported by all parties. To get out of this impasse, the listing has been moved to Monday. "Monday is a good alternative and everyone is now on the same page," says Mark Brantjes.

At the same time, the partnership writes that Brantjes will stop as chairman of PotatoNL. He reports that he no longer wants to manage PotatoNL. "It has been a very busy year at both my companies. In combination with the presidency of the LNCN and PotatoNL, that is simply too much," says Brantjes.

Conflicting interests
In addition, when making decisions in favor of PotatoNL, conflicting interests sometimes play a role. This is because he is also chairman and representative of LCNN. "You are sitting around the table with 4 parties who all have 4 different interests. As chairman you then have to make decisions in favor of the whole, while you have an individual interest for LNCN."

"As chairman of PotatoNL I had to make decisions that are less in the interest of LNCN. LNCN is an association with approximately 900 members and as chairman I try to represent the interests of the members. Members have a certain bond with the stock exchange and then it will be difficult if you move the quotation moment," says Brantjes.

Impartial Chairman
"How and what you write down can also be sensitive to a stock market. That is why it is better that we now get a chairman who stands above the parties. Who has no conflicting interests." Brantjes says it is a pity to stop. "I've always enjoyed doing it."
