Avebe has announced the campaign prize for 2019. The potato starch group reports this today (Friday) in a letter to the member growers. The campaign price is €5,50 per tonne higher than the advance price that Avebe published more than a month ago.
Avebe has postponed the announcement of the campaign prize for some time due to the consequences of the coronavirus. The group first wanted to map out the impact of the current crisis on its customers. Avebe has now announced to growers that it will pay a campaign price of €76,50 per tonne, excluding surcharges and premiums. This is €3,50 per tonne lower than the basic campaign price of €80 per tonne for the 2018 harvest.
Lower supply
When all premiums and surcharges are included, Avebe pays an average price of €2019 per tonne for the 84 harvest. Given the lower supply of potatoes, Avebe pays the campaign price of €76,50 per tonne for B and C potatoes.
In May, Avebe announced that it would increase the advance price for 2019 by €6 to €71 per tonne. This was possible given the positive results of the cooperative group. For example, the demand for potato starch is good, especially because more pizzas, noodles, snacks and other long-life products are consumed. Avebe decided not to process any surplus French fries potatoes, which, according to CEO Bert Jansen, left the market in demand.
