Avebe starts campaign 2020/2021

17 August 2020 - Kimberly Bakker

Starch cooperative Avebe has started the starch campaign for the 2020/2021 season. Monday 17 August, the first potatoes were delivered to the location in Gasselternijveen (Drenthe).

After a changeable season – with again plenty of drought periods – the first potatoes for the 2020/2021 starch campaign were delivered to the location in Gasselternijveen on Monday 17 August. This is almost one week earlier than in previous years. Avebe has announced that the other locations (in Ter Apelkanaal and in Lüchow, Germany) will follow suit. Started last week at the location in Dallmin.

Yield still uncertain
The total yield is still difficult to predict, Avebe reports. "Growing conditions among the members are very variable. This sometimes even differs between plots of the same grower. A lot will depend on whether we get some cooling and precipitation in the coming period," explains Arjan de Rooij, Agro director at Avebe.

The 2020/2021 starch campaign will run until the end of April 2021.
