French fries maker Lamb Weston Holdings announces it plans to expand production capacity in China. The company wants to build a new factory in Ulanqab in the Chinese province of Inner Mongolia. It will be Lamb Weston's second factory in Inner Mongolia. There is already a production facility in Shangdu.
The new plant involves an investment of $250 million. The plant will have a capacity of 113.000 tons per year and will provide 280 full-time jobs. The new location should be operational in the first half of 2024.
“The market for processed potato products continues to grow globally, and China is a critical market for us,” Lamb Weston CEO Tom Werner said in a press release. "This investment allows us to produce locally for the Chinese market. It is a great example of our promise and support for our strategic partners."
