The last potatoes of the 2020/2021 campaign were processed by Avebe at the factory in Gasselternijveen last weekend. The cooperative announced this today (Wednesday 19 May). The campaign went according to plan.
Due to the highly variable growing conditions, the yield of starch potatoes varies per area. The starch content is an average of 19%. That is the same as last year, but slightly below the multi-year average. The potatoes have been harvested cleanly this season. The tare percentage averaged approximately 4%. That is lower than last year.
Maintenance and new construction
Now that the campaign is over, factory maintenance and the realization of new construction are on the program in the coming period. Work is now underway on expanding Solanic protein production in Gasselternijveen and on a new factory in Dallmin, Germany. The Solanic factory produces proteins for human food and the Dallmin produces proteins for animal feed.
Avebe reports that almost all of the potatoes for the new season have now been planted. The first potatoes are already on top. The new campaign is expected to start from mid-August.
