The field inspection of the seed potatoes is slowly getting under way, reports the NAK inspection service. The development of the crops is very variable due to the weather conditions, the inspectors point out.
Partly due to the showers in the spring, there is a large spread in planting dates. There are large differences, especially between plots in the north and south of the country. Approximately 30% of the seed potato plots have undergone an initial inspection.
Slightly more reduction
The reduction percentage is 1,12%. That is slightly higher than last year. By far the most important cause for the reduction is bacterial illness at 62%. This is slightly higher than last year, when bacterial disease was the cause of reduction in 58% of the inspected area. But it is well below the percentage in 2019, which was 87%. Virus is the cause of 10% of the reductions. That was higher than in 2020 and 2019, when 7% and 6% respectively were reduced due to the virus. 28% of the seed potato plots have been reduced for other reasons.
