PotatoEurope, which was scheduled for September 1 and 2, is cancelled. The current developments surrounding the coronavirus create restrictions and uncertainty. The organizer DLG Benelux has therefore decided, in consultation with the exhibitors, to cancel the event that takes place once every 4 years in the Netherlands.
"We deeply regret that PotatoEurope 2021 cannot take place as planned, despite a thorough professional preparation and commitment from the market", says Kuno Jacobs Managing Director of DLG Benelux in a press release. "Unfortunately, given the continuing uncertainty in the Netherlands about the overall situation regarding corona and the resulting lack of official approval and restrictions imposed, the required conditions for holding PotatoEurope 2021 have not been met."
In June, the situation in the Netherlands seemed to be developing positively and the necessary restrictive measures were lifted. "Unfortunately, this did not lead to the desired effect," says Jacobs. The event was to take place at Wageningen University & Research, Open Cultivation in Lelystad. In addition to an indoor and outdoor fair, there would be harvesting demonstrations and demo fields.
Boerenbusiness organizes a round table discussion at the beginning of September about the future of potato cultivation and the chip market. Prominent companies in the sector are joining us. Do you have questions for the experts on this subject? Send them to before August 25th d.ballast@boerenbusiness. Nl
