The early potatoes are catching up in terms of growth. The yields in the trial harvesting trial center for potato cultivation (PCA) still lag behind the multi-year average.
PCA and Inagro monitor the growth and development of the (semi) early varieties Amora and Anosta on practical plots in West Flanders. After an average of 111 growing days, Anosta achieved an average yield of 23 tons per hectare on July 36. The spread was between 25 and 46 tons per hectare. At Amora the average yield is also 36 tons per hectare, but with a spread between 31 and 48 tons per hectare.
Grossness is left behind
The plot with the highest yield was irrigated once on June 14. The average growth is 1 kilos per hectare per day. At the Amora, an average of 600 tons per hectare was used in chip size 25. For the Anosta this is 50 tons per hectare. The ripening average is 23% at Amora and 22% at Anosta.
The multi-year average yield after 111 growing days is 41 tons per hectare at Amora and 40 tons at Anosta. When comparing by date, the yield of both varieties remains 3 tonnes behind the multi-year average. The early potatoes are also still behind in terms of size. On average, after 111 growing days, 28 tons per hectare of Anosta 50 are used up and for Amora this is 32 tons per hectare.
