10 August 2021 - Niels van der Boom

The gross yield (40 millimeters upwards) increases in the second week of trial harvesting Aviko Potato at 35 tons per hectare. A week earlier this was still 30 tonnes, making it historically low. In any case, the lowest in 6 years. The percentage 50 millimeters upward is slightly higher. This also increases in the second week of sampling. Aviko produces almost 70% of the tubers in that size or higher.

Underwater weight increases 35 grams
The underwater weight is, as is known, very low. The 2021 season started with an owg of 310. This has increased significantly due to a relatively dry week and now amounts to 345 grams in the 40 millimeters upwards. This still remains very low, just as was the case in 2017.

potato trading house brewer from Waregem in West Flanders has also published its first trial harvest figures. With 36,1 net tons (35 mm+), Fontane's result is above average. The 4-year average is 32,9 tons. Only in 2017 more was harvested in week 31. Of the harvested tubers, 58% were in size 50 millimeters or larger. The Challenger variety has a net yield of 34,7 tonnes/ha (35 mm+). This crop is slightly finer at 45% in size 50 millimeters or larger.

Low OWG
The underwater weight is also low at Bruwier. The Fontane plots amount to 332 grams and those of Challenger to 323 grams. Bruwier also samples Bintje plots. These samples amount to 31,8 tonnes/ha (43% 50 mm+). The owg is 323.
