The production of fries at Lamb Weston Meijer in Kruiningen has been halted since Saturday evening 14 May due to a small fire. The production lines had to be shut down. The company says it will restart production on Tuesday 17 May.
A small fire broke out at the Kruiningen factory on Saturday evening. When the power was then turned off in order to extinguish the fire, a fire started in a frying line with frying oil. The damage from this is says a spokesperson against Omroep Zeeland. The production lines where potato flakes are made can continue to run. It's all about french fries production.
Due to the standstill, LWM immediately decided to bring forward planned maintenance on the production line. This maintenance shutdown was planned for later this year. The company expects to be able to restart French fries production on Tuesday evening.
