Aviko Potato announced the pool prices for the 6 potato harvest last Wednesday, July 2021. The Potato Growers Committee (ATC) was able to anticipate the market well, with the majority of the potatoes being sold when the potato market was more favourable. How have the races fared in the pool?
With an average pool price of €218 per tonne across all varieties, ATC is satisfied with the result of the 2021 potato harvest. The pool prices with presale are slightly lower than the pool prices without presale. The price difference between the A, AA and AAA-quality varieties is also increasing.

Most sold at a later stage
Aviko Potato reports that the potato market was unstable this season, resulting in considerable price fluctuations. At first glance, the landing period still looked very good. Especially after the 2 gloomy years before, but once the harvest was underway, the prices dropped quickly. Nevertheless, Aviko Potato's ATC has managed to anticipate the market well, they report. A cautious sales policy was followed at the start, with the result that fewer potatoes were sold from the pool during the relatively low price level in the market. As the market developed more favourably, the pool still had more than enough volume to benefit from a better price. As a result, the average pool price is €218.
