The potato processors did well last season. The June processing figure was good but not spectacular. That is different for the month of July. The surprise is in the tail this season.
In July, 312.700 tons of potatoes were processed into pre-fried fries and other products. This is evident from the figures published by the Association for the Potato Processing Industry (Vavi) on Tuesday, August 16. Never before have so many potatoes been processed in July. THE record high processing figures are striking when you look at the potato quotation on PotatoNL. The price showed another dip in the first half of July. Prices only rose in the second half of the month.
Of the processed potatoes, 145.700 tons were processed into pre-fried fries and 26.800 tons into other products. Exactly 51,3%, or 160.300 tons of the potatoes came from abroad. The processing yield was 55,2%. In total, the industry processed approximately 2021 tons of potatoes from the 3.969.300 harvest. More potatoes were only processed in the 2016 and 2017 harvest years.{{dataviewSnapshot(40_1660682666)}}
