The table potato activities of Agrico and Nedato, together with Agrico subsidiary Leo de Kock, will be transferred to a new independent cooperative from next autumn. The companies announced this today (Wednesday 24 May).
According to the companies, the market for table potatoes is subject to change. Consumer needs are changing, causing the market to shrink and there is a desire among the three parties to arrive at a sustainable integrated chain. They have therefore put their heads together and in recent months have investigated whether, and if so how, a possible collaboration should take shape. The starting point is a healthy organization that offers table potato growers a good future perspective. A new cooperative specifically for table potatoes is the result.
Transfer
The trading and packaging activities will be accommodated at Nedato's current location in Oud-Beijerland. This location has sufficient space and is more centrally located for the majority of the growers of the new cooperative. The staff of the three companies will transfer to the new organisation. The transfer of activities to Oud-Beijerland will be phased, the companies report. "By bundling knowledge and activities related to table potatoes, a highly specialized organization is created with control over a short chain, in which customer wishes and growers' interests are efficiently connected," writes Wim van de Ree, director of Nedato, in the report about the collaboration. .
