Aviko sells factory in Cuijk to investor

8 September 2023 - Jurphaas Lugtenburg

Aviko has sold the factory in Cuijk to investment company Nimbus. Freshly steamed and pre-cooked potato products are made in Cuijk. The factory continues under the name Poterra.

Aviko's strategy is focused on frozen potato products and fries, both fresh and frozen. The steam-fresh and pre-cooked potato products made in Cuijk fit less well into Aviko's product portfolio. The potato processor has therefore decided that it is better for the business unit to continue independently. The buyer Nimbus is an investment company, which says it invests in 'companies that are at a crossroads in their development and are ready for their next growth phase.'

Invest in the future
"With Nimbus as the new owner of the Cuijk location, we expect a bright future for the factory and its employees. The location has a good customer base, a professional machine park and, above all, committed employees with a lot of knowledge and skills. As part of Nimbus, the factory will receive the opportunity to focus on fresh specialty products and invest in the future," said Maarten van Delst, CEO of Aviko Group, in a statement. Poterra is not the first food company in Nimbus' portfolio. For example, it has Well Plus Trade, a supplier of protein-based food products, and Dedert IJs, manufacturer of water and fruit ice cream.
