The high processing pace of October is not fully extended into November. However, there is no pause if the processing figure exceeds the five-year average.
In November, Dutch potato processors processed 333.800 tons of potatoes into fries and other potato products. This is evident from the overview of the Association for the Potato Processing Industry (Vavi) for the month of November. Last November, 327.300 tonnes passed through the factories and the five-year average for this month is 318.280 tonnes. Last month, a relatively large number of potatoes came from abroad, with 151.300 tons. The five-year average is 142.740 tons. Only in the 2017 and 2021 harvest years did more potatoes come from abroad.
High efficiency
Last month, Dutch processors produced 151.300 tons of pre-fried fries and 32.600 tons of other products. The processing yield is relatively high for November at 55,1%. The challenging harvest conditions for the late potatoes, to say the least, are therefore not reflected in the processing figures for November. This does not necessarily mean that this will not change, for example through the supply of problem parties.
