Since December, the processing pace this season has been behind last season. The new figures from the Association for the Potato Processing Industry (Vavi) for April do not break with that trend.
In April, Dutch factories processed 331.400 tons of potatoes. That is almost 15.000 tons less than April last year. The processing last April was almost the same as in March, when 332.700 tons were processed. At 129.900 tons or 39,2%, a relatively large number of potatoes came from abroad. Last year, 121.700 tons were imported, 35,2% of the total processed.
The Dutch industry produced 149.000 tons of pre-fried fries and 28.900 tons of other products. The processing yield was relatively high in April at 53,7%. The five-year average for this month is 52,3%.
