Emsland Group completed the 2023/24 processing season for starch and flake potatoes at the end of June by determining the final payment prices. It also pays out a market bonus as part of the contract price.
The previously announced contract price for starch potatoes with 19% starch, delivered to Emsland Stärke, is €105 per tonne. In addition, the group pays a so-called market sales prämie from €18 per tonne. With an average quality, the final payment price is €140,45 per tonne. This includes transport compensation. For potatoes with 23% starch, this amount increases to a maximum of €163,19. Last year (harvest 2022) the final payment price was €123 per tonne.
At Emsland Food, the price of flake potatoes delivered in mid-September (delivered to the factory) amounts to €144,72 (Amanda 16,5% starch) and €152,72 (Novano 20% starch). These prices increase to a maximum of €225,37 and €229,37 for delivery in mid-June. Growers receive €64,64 storage compensation per tonne. These prices apply to average quality and include transport surcharge.
Financial compensation
Emsland Group paid out financial compensation of €10 per tonne last season, which is included in the above prices. The company already made this in December known. This helped growers who had a very difficult potato harvest. The transport allowance was also increased last season due to the German transport tax.
For the 2024 harvest year, the basic price for starch potatoes is €110 per tonne at 19% starch, excluding surcharges. That is an increase of €5 compared to last year.
Everything planted
The wet autumn continued to be miserable estimate 5% of the area at Emsland is in the ground. All potatoes have now been planted, CEO Gerrit-Jan Wesselink said. "The early-planted potato plots are looking good. This is sometimes more irregular in the late-planted plots, partly due to varying seed potato quality. There was less rain in East Germany. Growers there are now irrigating."
