The starch campaign is in full swing. Processor Royal Avebe has no complaints about the quality of Dutch starch potatoes. 'The first results show good quality of the supplied starch potatoes', writes the cooperative.
In the week of 26 August, Avebe started up the first factory in Gasselternijveen. A month later, the second followed in Ter Apelkanaal. After almost two months of operation, the average starch percentage in the supplied potatoes is over 20,5%, reports Avebe. This means that the starch percentage is 1% higher than last year. The tare percentage is approximately 4% lower than last year.
About 75% of the starch potatoes have been harvested, according to Avebe. There are regional differences in the harvest progress.
