There are no major changes in the range of potato quotations this week. Reka remains proudly at the top, Belgapom is almost old and familiar, the last and in the Netherlands the parties have not yet decided to breathe new life into a quotation. However, there are some shifts. The DCA Spot price for French fries potatoes takes a step back this week.
The Belgian potato quotations have sometimes been criticised, but credit where credit is due Viaverda/Fiwap very correctly presented in their explanation what is happening on the potato market. For €12,50, the surplus tons, problem lots and special varieties are loaded by the processing industry. The top of the mark is not made by the processing industry, but by exporters and growers/traders who buy good potatoes from the field to drive them into their own storage. This week, Reka Rheinland included a surcharge of €2,50 in the list for potatoes dry from the shed to emphasise the distinction in the market even more.
The DCA Spot price for French fries potatoes has fallen by €0,05 this week to €14,15 per 100 kilos. The spot price is now only €0,16 above the five-year average and more than €9 below the price of this week last year.
