The range of potato quotes remains very wide. The German Reka quote remains proudly at the top while Belgapom is the last in the EU-4.
As a grower, it is difficult to make chocolate out of the potato prices. Belgapom is quoting unchanged at €12,50 for Fontane, while Reka Innovator is quoting at €23. Whether you can buy good potatoes for €12,50 is doubtful. It is not without reason that the Belgapom quotation committee adds the remark 'higher prices are paid for potatoes dry from the shed'. Unfortunately, what that higher price is, is not mentioned. Incidentally, there is sometimes a gap between the asking price and what buyers are willing to pay.
The DCA Spot Price for French Fries Potatoes this week is €15,56 per 100 kilos. That is €0,21 higher than last week. A real increase as we saw last year around this time due to the problems with the harvest is not on the agenda. The brakes are being applied too much in Belgium and France for that.
