There is no sign of a turnaround in the potato market at the beginning of 2025. In fact, the DCA EU-4 Potato Index started week 1 at exactly the same level as week 52 ended. This is in line with European listings. Only our eastern neighbours stand out.
Admittedly, last week was not the busiest in the potato trade, partly due to the turn of the year. Belgapom from Belgium and RNM from France kept Fontane the same at €20. There was more action in Germany where Reka showed a plus of €1 across the board. Fontane is now at €21 in Germany, Agria at €27 and Innovator at €31.
There is no Dutch contribution to the potato index yet. But that will change this week. After six months without an official Dutch potato quotation, a price will be put on the table at PotatoNL this week. Interesting to see which line PotatoNL chooses. Does the Netherlands lean more towards Belgium or Germany?
