It is not going by leaps and bounds but the DCA EU-4 Potato Index continues to take steps. From the input from the various countries it can be concluded that the EU-4 is less homogeneous than is sometimes suggested.
Germany is and remains the leader with the Reka that last week listed €36 for the Innovator. Fontane is worth more in Germany with €26 if you compare it to the €25 of the Belgapom, despite the fact that there is considerable processing capacity. The Netherlands is somewhere in between. The bottom of the category was last week at €21,50 and the top at €35. Broken down by variety, the Dutch listing is easier to understand, but the range remains very wide.
The DCA EU-4 Potato Index increases by €0,69 to €27,84 per 100 kilos. Due to its large area, Germany has a large weighting factor in the Index. The lower prices in Belgium and France pull the average down.
