The late potato harvest was revised downwards to 692.044 tonnes on 17.839 hectares. This is a slight decrease of 2,7% compared to the 711.314 tonnes from 2023. The average yield of late potatoes was 38,7 tonnes per hectare, 6,5% lower than the previous year. The medium-early potatoes were also lower than previously expected. In this segment, a decrease of 18,3% was recorded to 651.634 tonnes.
However, there seems to be more interest in growing more potatoes this year. The area for extra early potatoes is estimated at 2.165 hectares, an increase of 2,3% compared to the 2.117 hectares last year. A small side note here is that in the long term the area has been decreasing since 2017 (-1.752 hectares).
