The spread between the different contributing countries in the EU-4 Potato Index remains very wide. France and Belgium are at the bottom of the spectrum, while the Netherlands is the top by a long shot.
In a market that is in motion, quoters always run the risk that the price they put on the board at the time of publication deviates from what is actually paid at that time. That seems to be the case with the Dutch listing. Both at the bottom and at the top, PotatoNL is on the high side with €20 to €32 for the potatoes suitable for chips. The bottom for Fontane is €4 for the other EU-17,50. The difference with Innovator is even greater. Reka put €25 on the board while the Dutch listing was still above €30.
Partly due to the relatively high input from the Netherlands, the DCA EU-4 Potato Index comes out at €20,53 per 100 kilos. France has passed Belgium as the bottom of the range this week. The difference between the highest and lowest input has decreased slightly from €11,50 last week to €9,88.
