The potato market seems to have taken the biggest hit. In fact, Belgium's contribution to the DCA EU-4 Potato Index even took a step up this week. On balance, the Index is falling due to a major downward correction in the Netherlands.
Belgium and France are very much in agreement about the potato market. Both have €17,50 on the board for Fontane. For Belgium, this means a small increase and that is because Viaverda/Fiwap have raised the lower end from €15 to €17,50. In Germany, the quotations remained unchanged at €20,75. In the Netherlands, the contribution was reduced by €3,38 to €23,25 per 100 kilos.
The DCA EU-4 Potato Index is down €0,35 this week, reaching €19,51 per 100 kilos. As a critical calculator, you could say that prices are roughly at the level of the harvest period plus a storage fee. Incidentally, a parallel can be drawn with the harvest period. There was also little demand and little trade in free potatoes then. That is a weakness in the current potato market.
