France hits the brakes hardest in DCA Potato Index

The French potato price recovery in the DCA EU-4 Potato Index has proven to be short-lived. After last week's increase, France is the biggest loser among contributors this week.

From €18,50, the French reference in the Potato Index has fallen to €17,25 this week. That is the lowest price for France since week 51. Belgium also showed a significant decline. The price of the Belgians was €1 lower compared to last week at €16,50. Prices in the Netherlands and Germany are also falling, but the pace at which this is happening is lower. In Germany, the contribution was €0,80 lower compared to last week at €19,83 per 100 kilos. The decline in the Netherlands was limited to a quarter to €22,88.

The DCA EU-4 Potato Index is €18,86. That is €0,89 lower than last week. The five-year average for week 14 is €22,20. Harvest year 2021 comes closest to the current harvest year in terms of price with €19,35 per 100 kilos.
