After a few weeks without a listing for French fries potatoes, a price did appear on the board again last week. Because France was missing for a few weeks and the Potato Index then calculates with the last known price, the drop in the contribution was considerable. The intermediate steps that were taken in the other countries have fallen through. The listings in Belgium, Germany and France are unanimous about the price of Fontane with €10. The Netherlands is a lot higher with €11 to €14. At Agria, the difference between Germany and the Netherlands is even bigger. PotatoNL comes with a range of €15 to €28,50, while Reka lists €15.

The relatively low prices do not exactly arouse the desire to buy. Both Belgian quotations characterize the market as weak. That is to say: more supply than demand. And that is also the criticism that arises about the quotations. What is a price worth if there is no interest in the potatoes at all. The DCA EU-4 Potato Index has fallen by €2,77 to €11,94 per 100 kilos. That is the lowest level since the autumn of 2023.
