Janine Luten has succeeded Dick Hylkema as director of the Dutch Potato Organisation Association (NAO). Hylkema retired at the beginning of this month, after leading the organisation for nine years. Luten is already familiar with this world.
Until the beginning of this year, Janine Luten was the general manager of GroentenFruit Huis, a trade association for the fruit and vegetable sector. Under her leadership, this organization was transformed from a traditional lobbyist to an association that helps its members with all kinds of issues.
Before working for GroentenFruit Huis for four years, Luten worked as general manager of ZuivelNL and director of Wageningen Academy until 2020. It is also Wageningen where she studied, in the direction of Horticulture and Marketing & Market Research.
Figurehead of the potato sector
Hylkema retired on 1 May this year and was the figurehead of the NAO for nine years and thus also an important part of the potato sector in our country. For example, he was one of the forces behind the creation of PotatoNL in 2017.

If you know nothing of substance about what she did and how she fared, your judgment is too hasty and even misplaced, dear potato merchant.
