The mood on the European potato market for the 2024 harvest is not improving. Lack and demand is and remains the topic and that is also reflected in the prices this week.
The EU-4 notators are in pretty much agreement about the provisional bottom in the potato market. In Belgium, Germany, France and the Netherlands, €5 is at the bottom of the list. In Belgium and France, that €5 is also the top of the list. Germany and the Netherlands have a bit more variation in prices. Reka put the same price on the list for Fontane, Agria and Markies, namely €5.
Innovator is a lot higher at €14. However, Innovator is usually not a variety that lends itself very well to long storage. That there is still a plus for good Innovator can perhaps be explained by this. In the Netherlands, it was noted highest for the category fresh fries at €7 to €15. This includes Agria and Markies.
The DCA EU-4 Potato Index takes a step back across the board. The Dutch contribution dropped by €2,81 and the French contribution lost €2. The Potato Index came out €1,39 lower at €6,76 per 100 kilos.
