The trade in potatoes from the 2024 harvest has largely dried up. This is also reflected in the DCA EU-4 Potato Index. Only the Netherlands posted a price for the old harvest last week.
Schools are on summer vacation, and it seems the potato market needed a break as well. PotatoNL did publish a price quote, but it's been met with criticism from various quarters. Several insiders consider the €10 upper end for fresh fries with varieties like Agria and Markies too high. This is especially true now that new potatoes are available for the same price, as evidenced by the Viaverda/Fiwap price of €10 for early varieties.
The DCA EU-4 Potato Index has remained unchanged at €5,87 per 100 kilos, partly due to the lack of input, which means we continue to calculate with the last known price.
