The French potato growers' organization UNPT is responding to a campaign by Mangeons Frais, a retail chain specializing in fresh produce. The growers' organization is, to put it mildly, not pleased with the store's potato campaign.
Potato growers are bothered by a promotional campaign in Mangeons Frais stores. Last weekend's offer reads: "Fries, Fries, Fries. Don't miss this offer: a free bag of potatoes with a purchase of €25 or more. Find all our offers in-store."
The UNPT demands an immediate end to the protest and warns: "These practices will not go unanswered." The potato growers' organization is disturbed that the retail chain is trying to make a good impression with free potatoes, while it is a very difficult season for the growers in terms of sales. "This is an unacceptable provocation; our work has a price!" the UNPT responded.
