The chip company has nothing good to say about the unions' stance. The company calls it a series of illegal and disrespectful practices by strikers who refuse to stop, even though a majority of employees have returned to work.

Production has resumed on a limited scale at all locations in France and Belgium. The manufacturer emphasizes that it is successfully fulfilling contracts with customers and service providers.

Physical violence
In some cases, the resumption of work has led to frustration, which, according to Clarebout, has resulted in an unacceptable escalation of the protests. "Despite this resumption, a minority is becoming radicalized, engaging in physical violence, intimidation, blockading locations, and restricting workers' freedom of movement."

The chip company has asked the authorities to quickly end the protests. Many employees no longer support the union's actions and want to return to work, Clarebout emphasizes. The company recognizes the right to strike, but also believes that there should be respect for those who do want to work. Obstructing those who want to work through blockades is disrespectful and counterproductive, the company believes.

Clarebout is calling for calm. In a climate of peace and mutual respect, the company aims to resume dialogue. "This is in line with Clarebout's fundamental human and family values," a spokesperson emphasizes. "In a potato processing market currently experiencing difficulties, Clarebout's strength lies in its ability to strengthen unity and channel all positive energy."
