The regional exchanges Middenmeer and Leeuwarden are merging their table potato listings into a single listing for the Northern Netherlands. Both exchanges hope this will create a stronger and more widely supported listing.
Since August, the board and listing committee of the Middenmeer stock exchange have been in discussions with the Leeuwarden stock exchange about merging the grower price listings for table potatoes. A general agreement has currently been reached. If the merger becomes final, the Leeuwarden stock exchange will cease to exist, and the joint listing will be transferred to the Middenmeer stock exchange.
The listing committee for table potatoes in the Northern Netherlands will consist of three growers and two traders. Jan van der Meer, from the growers on the listing committee in Middenmeer, will join. From the Leeuwarden stock exchange, growers Wiebe Goodijk from Sexbierum and Menko van Zwol from Spijk will participate. The trade contribution will be made by Wimjan Brasser from Schaap Holland and Cor Greydanus from the potato trading company Greydanus.
The Leeuwarden stock exchange listings for feed potatoes, onions, and potatoes of the Irene variety will be discontinued after the merger.
