Belgian French fry group Clarebout has definitively acquired the American food group Simplot. The acquisition has been completed, Clarebout reports.
According to the American food company, the two family-owned businesses are a perfect fit. "We are proud to welcome Clarebout to Simplot. This acquisition strengthens our global presence and increases our ability to serve existing and new customers," says Simplot CEO Garrett Lofto.
The American company praises the quality and innovation of the Belgian chip company, which is now being definitively acquired. Clarebout was founded 37 years ago by owner Jan Clarebout in Nieuwkerke, West Flanders.
The CEO of Clarebout Potatoes calls the acquisition by Simplot a logical step. "We have found a partner who shares our values, our respect for people and the planet, and our ambition to grow sustainably. Together, we can better respond to the challenges and opportunities of a changing global food landscape."
With the five Clarebout locations, Simplot has grown to a total of 23 production facilities worldwide. This creates one of the largest French fry companies after global market leader McCain.
