In the Netherlands and Belgium, about 5% of the potatoes are in the ground. As a result, the season is getting off to a slower start than last year. In week 15 of 2025, about 45% of the potatoes in Belgium had been planted. Dutch growers were a step ahead at that time and had already completed nearly 60% of the planting work.

In Germany and France, planting potatoes is slightly further along than in the Netherlands and Belgium. According to the Aviko progress report In these countries, where strong expansions took place last year, about 7% to 8% of the potatoes have now been planted. Last year, that was slightly more than half in Germany. In France, 37% of the work had been done at that time.
