Total exports of consumption and industrial potatoes have increased to nearly 500.000 tonnes, according to figures from the Dutch Potato Organisation (NAO). Despite higher exports in March and extremely low prices, there is still a shortfall compared to last year.

At the end of March 2025, the interim export figure stood at 525.559 tonnes. Fewer potatoes are going to Belgium this season, in particular. On the other hand, Germany, despite a large harvest of its own, has purchased significantly more potatoes from the Netherlands.

Total sales within the European Union are currently 4% lower than in the previous season. Africa, despite a halving of exports to Senegal, still imported 3% more potatoes. Ivory Coast and Mali largely offset the decline to Senegal. In addition, Mauritania and Burkina Faso purchased more potatoes.

Exports to the United States have increased by 8%. In this region, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica ensure increased sales of Dutch potatoes.
