In early February, Agrico announced that the average gross balance for seed potatoes would amount to around €14.000 to €16.000 per hectare. Ultimately, this proved unfeasible. Including compensation, the cooperative now arrives at an average revenue of €13.000 per hectare.

Since February, the trading house has been dealing with a deteriorating market situation. In particular, the sales volume destined for the industry declined further than expected. Negative consumer potato prices and the war in the Middle East have put further pressure on the market, explains Agrico.

In early exports, the cooperative also suffered significantly from the loss of Cuba as a major buyer. The country was unable to pay the bill for the 2024 harvest, meaning no seed potatoes were delivered from the 2025 harvest. For Agrico, this meant the loss of approximately 4.000 tonnes of exports. The Alouette variety was particularly affected by this. Consequently, a significant portion of this variety could not be sold as seed potatoes.
