Public Prosecution Service deals with subsidy fraud in Groningen

21 January 2019 - Niels van der Boom - 11 comments

On Monday 21 January, a mechanization company from Midwolda in Groningen, together with a number of farmers, was in court in Zwolle. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) accuses these companies of committing fraud with subsidies on machines.

The Public Prosecution Service says that the case is not unique, but that many more companies have enriched themselves with such subsidies. It probably concerns the POP3 subsidies on the new machines with GPS technology (which also work on a site-specific basis), so writes RTV North.

Bill too high
In order to be eligible (and to be entered), you must first submit an offer. When the application is recognised, the ministry asks for an order confirmation and invoice. These were submitted, but the machine eventually delivered turned out to be cheaper in practice, the Public Prosecution Service believes. A total of €220.000 in subsidies would have been wrongly received.

The mechanization company from Midwolda would have done this for at least 9 farmers. Six of these have now reached a settlement in exchange for a guilty plea. They are therefore not justified.

Cell, community service and fines
The Public Prosecution Service started a criminal investigation in 2015, after a report about the mechanization company. This report was made by an accountant. The co-director and 1 representative were tried in Zwolle on Monday 21 January. In addition, 3 farmers were also on trial.

The OM demands 9 months in prison against the main suspect, reports Newspaper of the North† His son is being sentenced to 3 months in prison and 240 hours of community service. The farmers involved will receive community service of up to 100 hours and a fine of up to €6.600. The Public Prosecution Service has not reported whether it will convict more companies.

In such a case, a member of our club should say to the client: sorry, I cannot carry out this assignment for you. In addition, the office could have warned the mechanization company that they were breaking the law, which constitutes a criminal offense.
Betrayal is definitely the last thing you do. Still, don't be fooled by the tax.

You do not need a club to apply. It's pretty simple. With an acc there is usually no benefit anyway

Particularly stupid and transparent way of acting, then you live on an island if you think you can get away with it.

This has been done a lot
You submit the gross price with high costs for preparing and commissioning the machine
Later a correction note for the farmer and the 40% is refunded by the mechanization company to the farmer
Going
Subsidy on the highest possible amount

@NBA, you have never heard of it, but almost every accountancy firm nowadays falls under horizontal supervision, which obliges the firm to report deviations immediately to the tax authorities. So don't mess around too much.

This is common practice in Eastern Bloc countries that hitch a ride with the EU, so why shouldn't it be allowed here and allowed there with impunity?

There are probably still a few colleagues who sleep badly from now on, of course tax checks follow. And from now on everything with an accountant's statement. Costs all a lot of money again, But with each other to make it. Thanks to.......

This country has to stop with little subsidies. A lot of bureaucracy and all the intermediaries benefit from it.
Return the direct subsidy percentage to the people who are entitled to it via the tax return, as in the past with the WIR.
Usually the jars are often empty when others want to use them. Think, for example, of asbestos removal.

GERRIT's post above, I completely agree.
The subsidy goes for the most part to accounting offices and the requested data is practically impossible to obtain honestly, think of 3 quotations.
Once all the requirements were met (installation of 120 solar panels) and ready 6 weeks before the deadline, then it turned out that the promised "mer subsidy") was finished, in January 2007 there was again "mer" but the undersigned could whistle for it.

You mean MEP subsidy, POP3 subsidy was very easy to apply for and then they light things up, apparently there has to be another advisor in between.

we are infested with subsidies, just stop

there are companies that are drawn every year, I myself have tried several times to qualify, the answer was that the money was already gone
