There will be no European ban on the drug chlorpropam for the time being. The European Commission wanted to ban it, but the European Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed (ScoPAFF) voted down this proposal.
Of the 28 European member states, 16 member states voted in favor of the proposal for a ban. However, to be approved, those countries must also represent at least 65% of the European population. The latter was not the case.
