Claas has been offering an app for the iPad to control machines for some time now. For the time being, this only concerned our own machines, but that is about to change. From now on you can control any Isobus implement via the iPad (with the Claas app).
The German brand has been working on machine control via the iPad for years. It's cheap, universal and easy to update. However, it is not all as simple as it looks. At the Sima in 2013, Claas received a gold medal for their Isobus app, which has been available since 2016. usable is. The system is further expanded approximately 3 years later.
The Claas 'Easy on-board' app has been given the Task Controller Basic (TC BAS) protocol. This means it can log and map Canbus data from Isobus implements. Any certified implement that meets the AEF standard can be used by the iPad.
365 FarmNet
The purpose of logging is to upload and download the data about the implement and the field concerned. The platform '365FarmNet' is used for this. This German cloud service is supported by a large number of (German) manufacturers and is therefore partly universal. Claas will also improve the logging and sending of data on its own machines by installing a transmitter. It sends all data directly to the cloud.
When you don't use the cloud, the app sends all data in ISO-XML files to you via email. You can then load it with the program you use. The data can be used for precision farming applications.
conversion kit
In addition to the iPad and app, you need a wireless module that connects your tablet to the Isobus implement. You can then operate the machine via the iPad. You can even set programmable Isobus buttons through the app. A conversion kit is available for older tractors, so that you can still work with Isobus machines.
